Montecarlos, El Salvador
Montecarlos Estate sits on a dormant volcano in El Salvador's central highlands, where Carlos Batres has expanded a five-generation family farm into a 40-year coffee industry legacy. The estate made history by developing and commercializing Pacamara—a cross of Pacas and Maragogype varieties—beginning in the late 1980s, with the first harvest in 1992–93. Washed and sun-dried on clay patios for 15 days using the farm's 150-year-old mill, this coffee presents as pure with light orange notes. It's an approachable, crowd-pleasing cup that reflects both terroir and the pioneering spirit of a farmer committed to sharing Pacamara's potential across El Salvador.
