2026 Florence & Jessica Marigi; Malaki Estate - Kenya
Malaki Estate sits at 1,900 masl on Kiambu's western Aberdare slopes, a region gaining recognition for distinctive coffee character. Florence and Jessica Marigi's farm, planted in 1969, grows only traditional Kenyan selections—never hybrid varieties—alongside macadamia and avocados. Hand-picked fruit is floated, de-pulped same-day, then dry-fermented 36–48 hours before drying on raised beds, a process that builds the coffee's pronounced dark fruit profile: blackcurrant, rhubarb, and hibiscus. This field blend represents the older Kenyan SL genetics that define the estate's identity.
