Juan Pablo Ortiz's tiny third-year garden in Vilcabamba, Peru (2,100 masl) is planted entirely in Geisha—the legendary Ethiopian-origin varietal now prized worldwide. Hand-picked at peak ripeness, the beans were floated, de-pulped same-day, then dry-fermented for 32 hours before washing and drying on raised beds. The cup delivers delicate florals and stone fruit: apple blossom, lychee, and honeydew. Ortiz represents a new generation elevating Vilcabamba's reputation for extreme-altitude quality; this limited microlot showcases what's possible when dedication meets one of coffee's most celebrated varieties.
