Kenya Kamathura AB, Washed SL28, SL34 & Ruiru 11

Kamathura AB is a communal lot from Kamavindi, a family-run exporter in Embu established in 1958, sourced from multiple stations across Embu and Nyeri counties at 1,650–1,800 masl on Mount Kenya's volcanic slopes. The coffee undergoes a rigorous washed process: hand-picked ripe cherries, evening pulping, 20 hours of dry fermentation, an intermediate wash, then 20–24 hours more fermentation before final washing and 14–21 days of raised-bed drying. The blend combines three varietal—the renowned SL28 (prized for complexity but disease-prone), disease-resistant SL34, and the hybrid Ruiru 11—each component individually cupped and selected for profile score, with producers of selected lots receiving quality premiums. Scored 86 by Subtext; this is the first year both Quest and Subtext have partnered with Kamavindi.
