Ethiopia Karamo Adara Espresso, Washed Walega

Karamo Adara station in Bensa, Sidama sits at 2,300 meters elevation, where approximately 1,500 smallholders cultivate Walega (JARC 74158), a disease-resistant variety selected in the 1970s. The coffee is wet fermented 36–72 hours, then dried on African beds for 12–15 days under managed sunlight. This altitude and processing regimen produce remarkably dense beans with concentrated flavor and smaller screen sizes. The station's excellence is proven: it earned Cup of Excellence awards three years running (2020–2022). Subtext's fourth year sourcing here yields a cupped score of 86.5.
