Rwanda Kinini Dufatanye, Washed Bourbon

From the Kinini cooperative in Rulindo, Northern Rwanda (1,800–2,200 masl), this lot showcases the work of predominantly women producers in a collaborative network established through IWCA connections. The coffee is washed traditionally: rested in cherry for 24 hours, pulped and fermented in clean water, then washed again and dried on individually marked raised beds for another 24 hours. Bourbon varieties at this elevation produce clean, nuanced cups with high-quality potential. Subtext's 86-point score reflects the care invested by a cooperative rooted in community development—Kinini began as a school for genocide survivors and has grown into a multi-service cooperative supporting its region.
