Laos

Origin

A quietly emerging Southeast Asian origin, with most specialty coffee grown on the fertile Bolaven Plateau at elevations that rival its better-known neighbors.

Laos is one of Southeast Asia’s least-known coffee origins, but its potential is real. Nearly all of the country’s specialty production comes from the Bolaven Plateau in the southern Champasak Province — a high-altitude volcanic plateau sitting between 1,000 and 1,350 meters. The plateau’s rich basaltic soil, cool temperatures, and reliable rainfall create growing conditions that produce clean, mild cups with gentle sweetness and soft acidity. Both Arabica and Robusta are grown, with specialty lots coming exclusively from Arabica farms.
