The Gamatui community is well known for rolling out coffees that are distinctly grape-y in flavor. This flavor call, which we've experienced as everything from Welch's grape juice to grape Jolly Ranchers to (in today’s case) fresh concord grapes, is both rare and delicious—and it's a big part of why we come back to their coffees year after year. This season's lot is sweet and nutty like praline pecan, and smooth like a milk chocolate bar sprinkled with orange zest.

Chelbesa Danche is practically a household name in specialty coffee, and this lot is about as clean & fruity as it gets. The flavors are layered orange and tart cherry, with even a hint of pineapple, grape, and raspberry. The aromas are rose and powdered sugary blueberries. This is classic, washed Ethiopian coffee. This coffee is named for the Danche washing station where it's produced. Approximately 800 farmers deliver their coffee cherries to this washing station, each farming 2-3 hectares of land at 2200 meters. Only ripe cherries were picke, then they were floated to remove defects. Next the coffee was pulped, dry-fermented for 96 hours, and then fully washed. The coffee then dried for 12-14 days on raised beds.
